Improving Efficiency With a Home Energy Audit in Mesa, AZ

Bryan G. wasn’t expecting much when he stopped by the City of Mesa’s Wellness Fair—maybe he’d hear an interesting seminar or win a fun door prize. However, as he wandered through the expo center, one of the booths caught his eye: FOR Energy. Bryan found himself talking to the vendor about his home energy efficiency, and before long he’d scheduled an energy audit with Sean McGraw, one of the company owners.

On the day of his audit, Sean arrived as scheduled and performed a thorough evaluation of Bryan’s house, from the state of its roof to the weather stripping on his garage door. After Sean had finished with the home energy audit, he sat down to review the results with Bryan. The state of the attic insulation was particularly concerning to both men. While most homes require around 12 inches of attic insulation in order to maintain comfy indoor temperatures, Bryan’s attic only had about 2½ inches of insulation. This helped to explain why Bryan was always warm inside and why his energy bills went through the roof every summer.

The Solution

After discussing his options, Bryan and Sean decided that updating his insulation and resealing his ductwork would offer the most value when it came to improving home energy efficiency. They set an installation date and Sean made sure to leave Bryan with a report of his home energy audit to review.

When the installation day arrived, the first thing that Bryan noticed about our Energy Pros was their professionalism. He noted that:

The team worked efficiently, sealing leaking ducts and removing old insulation. Then, they blew in new, chemical-free insulation. Bryan had expected them to make a bit of a mess—they were blowing in insulation after all—but found to his surprise that:

…when all the ductwork was sealed, and a lot of the insulation was blown, they cleaned to the point that I never knew they were here.

Before long, the project was finished, and the crew departed after a friendly farewell.
